Meet the Woman
in the Kitchen

I’m Laura, founder of Single Girl Servings. I grew up in Nebraska, bounced around between Kansas City and Austin, and now call Denver home. The OG taste tester at SGS is my eight-year-old Labrador Retriever, Bubby. He just so happens to be shaped like a potato and is the most enthusiastic eater I know.

At SGS, I cook because I love how food brings everyone to the table. Eating is our universal love language. These recipes are meant for hosting a lively group of friends or treating yourself to a delicious solo meal on a Tuesday night. My hope is that Single Girl Servings inspires you to confidently express yourself — both in and out of the kitchen.

Our Ethos

01/

Connection

Food is more than nourishment— it’s a shared language that brings people together. We approach cooking as a way to gather, host, and create moments, whether in person or through a screen. Rooted in conversation, storytelling, and honesty, it bridges everyday life with meaningful connection, inviting others in and fostering a sense of community—even when cooking for one.

03/

Empowerment

We exist to build confidence in those who don’t feel like they can cook, reframing it as something you do for yourself—not just for others. It celebrates independence and self-respect, encouraging people to show up for themselves through small, meaningful acts like making a meal. By removing pressure, rules, and perfectionism, and offering education that feels supportive rather than prescriptive, it positions cooking as intuitive, nourishing, and entirely your own.

02/

Open

Recipes are designed to feel achievable and approachable, paired with an honest, unfiltered voice that weaves humor, personality, and perspective into the experience. We embrace experimentation, imperfection, and curiosity, creating space for self-expression in the kitchen while remaining transparent about both the wins and the messiness of life.

04/

Growth

Cooking is approached as both a creative outlet and an evolving practice—one that encourages learning, curiosity, and exploration across flavors, cultures, and techniques. Our hope is to inspire people to move beyond their comfort zones, balancing nourishment with enjoyment and beauty, while elevating the everyday into something more intentional. It’s about growth not just in skill, but in confidence, perspective, and the way we experience food and life.
